Try waking up 10 minutes before you need to. And before you do anything else, just breathe. Start with 10 full breaths. If you are able, breathe in and out your nose, but breathing through the mouth is also fine. Stand up tall with good posture - if you try this lying down, you may fall back to sleep! Next, take 10 more full breaths and during your inhale, let your arms float up and reach for the sky (or ceiling) and as you exhale let your arms float back down. This will give you a gentle stretch as it wakes you up and helps you start your day with Great Energy! Here is another way, upon awakening, to start your day with Great Energy: Lay down on a blanket or mat and elevate both legs against a wall. Just breathe in this position for 10 minutes. It will energize your legs and give your heart a nice break. You may fall back to sleep and that's okay...just set an alarm for 10 minutes and you will have a heart-healthy, leg energizing boost for your day.
